What to gather
A well-prepared record set shortens assessment and avoids repeated testing.
- A summary letter from your treating doctor, including diagnosis and current treatment
- Recent laboratory results with dates and reference ranges
- Imaging in original DICOM format, not only printed reports
- Pathology reports where a diagnosis has been made
- A current medication list with doses
- Allergy and previous surgical history
Translation
Many international departments accept English-language records. Where translation is needed, ask the hospital whether they provide it, since clinically accurate translation matters more than speed.
Sharing records safely
Medical records are sensitive. Share only what is necessary for the question you are asking, use secure transfer where possible, and keep a copy of everything you send.
